FAQ
Q: Bagged or Bagless Which is Better?
A: People are always asking us which is better, bagless or bagged vacuums? Ok, think about this, if you go back a few decades most vacuums were bagless, then the industry starting installing paper bags in them. Why? Primarily for better sanitation and filtration, when you dump the dirt you inhale much of it and if you empty it in the waste can in your home all that dust and bacteria is back in the air, in your lungs, and on your furniture... AGAIN. One argument that people use is but I don't have to buy bags...no, you are right, but you have to buy filters. Many brands say "permanant filters" yet in many of the manuals or fine print they tell you to replace them. The filters can be more expensive than paper bags. If you don't maintanence the vacuum properly (generally after every use) they won't pick up as well, get hot and warp the gaskets and housings or dirt gets into the motor and can ruin it. Do you really think the vacuum manufactuers are going to let go of the after market revenue they get from bags? No way, they will get it on filters instead. So, the answer to the question is NO bagless vacuums are not better. However, vacuum bags have come a long way recently in dust retention. We recommend the new synthetic paper bags which are available on many of the most common brands.
